Apparently, around half of my gallery disappeared, because DeviantART thinks that the use of anime images from Boyis in art is a violation of copyright issues (and for them to have noticed requires that someone reported my gallery).

Say what? Is this not what this cg images are supplied for, to be used in such a fashion? Or have I been confused and misled all this time due to the extreme commonality of such useage of these images? Anyone know?

And who would choose to report my gallery on this matter? And why, when dozens, possibly hundreds, of other galleries on dA are full of similar material and are left untouched? I am not saying that the presence of others excuses me if I have indeed violated copyright, but I still wonder why I was reported...

I am so confused...


Oh, yes, and we can't forget that, for some reason, my Puchi sig was left undeleted even though it also uses an image from Boyis, just like all the deleted ones. o_O What the heck?
Heh, just realized my avatar also remains, which uses another cg from Boyis...perhaps they never noticed it...I suppose I should probably put up a new one anyway...

PS: I just emailed Boyis asking about it, and hope to hear back soon, though I don't know just how loaded their inbox is. -_-

Edit: Well, I got the reply from Boyis already (yay!). I'm just going to copy and paste it here and let you judge for yourself what's being said.

Scary grammar, but other than that, it seems I am permitted to use the images as I have been, so long as I give proper credit. I have been crediting Boyis and linking to them, and I have been naming the original artist (at least with those that are by Yukirin...there is a possibility there were some by other artists that I either forgot to name the artist or didn't know the artist's name).

So, unless Yukirin doesn't allow such use of his artwork (in which case I'd wonder why so many of his images are on Boyis free for download), I have not violated any copyrights. Hmph...
